Outdoor Living Space with beautiful paver patio and professional landscape.Pavers are an excellent option when it comes to building a new patio. Pavers not only provide balance to your outdoor aesthetic without taking away from the natural look of the rest of your yard, but they are also incredibly flexible, visually speaking. Basically, there’s a lot that you can do with brick pavers that will help to boost the curb appeal of your property. Just consider some of the newer patio paver trends:

1. Over-Sized Pavers

More and more homeowners are experimenting with large format pavers. Using larger, more elongated pavers tends to provide a cleaner, more modern look to the patio space. You can use long plank-style pavers or large square tile pavers — or even combine the two for an even more unique look.

2. Pavers That Look Like Stone or Wood

Pavers can have a more natural look so that your patio blends in with your landscape. Consider pavers that are designed to look like stone or wood. Pavers that are designed to look like slate or flagstone have also become particularly popular over the past few years.

If you want your patio to provide some visual contrast to your landscape, adding a border will certainly help. A border will help to establish the boundaries between your patio and the rest of your landscape as well as give your patio a more finished and purposeful design. You can do this by creating single, double, or triple rows of pavers that surround the patio.

4. Pavers With Stripes or Patterns

You can give your patio a more distinct look by playing with how the pavers are arranged. There are a number of patterns that are particularly popular among homeowners these days, including herringbone, basketweave, running bond, and diamond. You can even add stripes or patterns in the middle of your patio using patio banding for an added visual punch.

5. Pavers With Different Colors and Textures

Your pavers don’t all have to be the same color or even shades of the same color. You can use different colors to create a unique visual design. If you are designing a bigger patio space, then you might want to consider using different colored pavers to delineate separate areas of your patio. For example, one part of your patio may be reserved as an eating area, while the other might be designated as the fire pit area. Another way you can use color is by using different colored pavers for your walkway if it passes through your patio. If you have a border or stripes going through your patio, different colored pavers can help them stand out as well. Playing with textures (such as veined or rough textures as opposed to smooth ones) can have the same impact.

These are just a few of the patio paver trends that you can use as inspiration when designing your patio using pavers.
